Climate Capital: What made you want to solve this problem?
Ferhat and Selinay: Ferhat (Co-founder & CEO) and I (Selinay, Co-founder & COO) met in high school and have been collaborating ever since, particularly in developing in-car applications for companies like Mercedes, Audi, and Renault. Our journey into the climate sector began when we installed and operated charging stations, encountering firsthand the challenges faced by charge point operators and drivers.
Before founding Bluedot, Ferhat led the first EV fleet at Zipcar and worked at Mercedes, while I had a previous venture, which was essentially "Goodreads for textbooks."
Through these experiences, we recognized the fragmented and inefficient nature of the EV charging ecosystem. At Bluedot, we aim to revolutionize EV fleet management by providing an all-in-one platform that enhances efficiency, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. Our focus is on solving the complexities of automated payments for public charging and offering comprehensive home charging solutions, including tracking and reimbursement. Ferhat leads our product development, while I handle our go-to-market strategies. Our goal is to streamline the EV charging experience, making it seamless and accessible for fleet operators and drivers alike.
Climate Capital: What are you building?
Ferhat and Selinay: Bluedot currently simplifies EV-fleet management and payments for EV fleets. Our main customers include rental car companies, government fleets, corporate fleets, and utility fleets. Fleet managers with electric vehicles typically use 4-5 systems to manage their fleets. Bluedot’s FleetOS helps unify their workspace and payments.
There are 250k commercial light duty vehicles in US alone right now and it will be 3M by 2030.
Traditional approaches to electrification often limit growth and customers need integrated solutions that combine charging, payments, telematics, and analytics to manage and operate their fleets effectively.
Climate Capital: What is next?
Ferhat and Selinay: At Bluedot, the focus is on scaling our impact across more fleets, faster. We're constantly refining our implementation process to ensure companies can onboard seamlessly and efficiently. Unlike competitors who require months of customizations, we're able to integrate with existing systems quickly, saving fleets time and resources. Our telematics-agnostic platform integrates with a broad range of solutions—OEM systems, GEOTAB, Samsara, and more—making it incredibly flexible for fleet managers.
As fleets grow in size and complexity, we're committed to building scalable, adaptable solutions that align with their evolving needs. Whether it's expanding public charging access, optimizing home charging reimbursements, or enabling smarter energy management for depots our main focus is helping fleets to manage EV-transition in ease while scaling those vehicles.
Climate Capital: What are the core elements of the culture you are building at your company?
Ferhat and Selinay: Our team is not an army or a family; we never use these concepts. We see ourselves as an NBA team. In our culture, we expect everyone to feel this way while embracing elements like trust, collective responsibility, communication, shared goals, and dedication. Just like a sports team, our team is composed of different cultures and nationalities. You can't imagine the perspective and cultural impact this brings to business development.
Climate Capital: How can the broader climate community help you on your mission?
Ferhat and Selinay: We are making significant investments in expanding GTM team and hiring sales leader -- please reach out if you know anyone thinking about their next chapter. This is an amazing opportunity for hungry sellers to learn fast, work hard and become a critical part in our growth here at Bluedot.
Introductions to companies in the corporate, hospital, utility, and telecom sectors with fleets would be great.
