Climate Capital has been investing in climate founders for almost a decade. CC Insights shares what we are learning about the early stage climate tech ecosystem. Co-invest with us here.
From high-profile keynote speakers addressing global challenges to intimate workshops on grassroots initiatives, New York Climate Week is one of the great ‘unconferences’ for innovators, energy wonks, and change-makers in the climate space. It can also be daunting - Climate Week 2022 was home to 400+ events. While official events can be tracked on the Climate Week website, there are also dozens of group runs, cocktail hours, live podcast recordings, and networking sessions to take advantage of.
By way of this week’s CC Insights, we hope to bring some method to the madness, highlighting the resources & community calendars that have come across our radar.
In case this is all new to you (it’ll be our first year attending so it’s new to us!), let’s start with square one…
What is Climate Week?
This year Climate Week NYC will be held from September 17-24, 2023. The event takes place every year in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly and is run in coordination with the United Nations and the City of New York. Climate Week NYC is hosted by Climate Group, an international non-profit whose purpose is to drive climate action, fast. Climate Group hosts the official program during the week that brings together the most senior international figures from business, government, civil society and the climate sector.
While there is a central agenda & brand around Climate Week, it has evolved to become a keystone climate ‘unconference’ by catalyzing a distributed lineup of unofficial events for pretty much everyone under the climate umbrella (so to speak). The hard part, particularly for climate newcomers, is identifying and prioritizing which events to attend. How do I find unofficial events?
For starters, join us!
